I was never on Twitter, but I’ve seen too many newbies relieved about the style of communication here to believe that a “demand” to have things like they are over there is a good idea.

I feel that what people want to do, isn't to "quote". I can perfectly do that. For example:

I feel that what they actually do "demand", is an option for talking behind someone's back.

Of course it's *possible* to say something nice behind a third person's back. But let's be honest: in real life, what do you hear more?

a couple of times I would have liked to filter the other way around: get only the boosts, which were great, but not the original posts 😉 But I guess there’s no way to do that?

I first used the official Mastodon app, but it didn't show alt-text. Complete no-go. So I tried Metatext and ended up using Toot!, although I found all the animations rather distracting and would have liked to turn them off. Took a lot of fiddling with themes, too, until I liked it.

Now I found that Mastodon is updated and finally shows alt-text, so I am very happy to be able to return to it. I feel it has everything I need.

Best option is still the website version on my laptop :-)

I saw the poll has ended and I simply wanted to say thank you once more for all the volunteer work that you’re doing. Even taking the time to step back and re-assess your page by asking your audience! That’s great, really. 🙏

I like and recommend it and have used it a number of times when I was new.

I like it because it has

- a shortcut / categories overview in the menu on top

- a detailed index of all the topics at the bottom.

Maybe people who didn't grow up with books find the idea of an index overwhelming. I find it actually extremely useful. Everything at one glance.
