I see Mastodon can't do much if the language isn't set properly, but the client software should be able to recognize the empty string is not a valid language input.

@FediFollows Hello, I think this is a neat project. Something I thought was too bad was I looked and there is an "Art" section but no subcategory for Abstract Art (eg abstract expressionism, suprematism, "late modern" art, contemporary equivalents). I think that is a subcategory worth including esp since it is well represented in digital art, though IDK if I can think of specific mastodon accounts to follow right this second.

@darius @cicatriz_jdr Part of my reasoning for trying to abandon Twitter when the purchase was announced rather than when it went through was I expected the purchase process would be an enormous drama cluster I just didn't want to be hanging around for and I was more correct than I could have possibly imagined

@darius Speaking selfishly (as a user of mastodon dot social who is blocked by some instances because m.s is too lightly moderated, and finds this mildly annoying) I wonder if there should be some Larger solution to this problem, like a shared-across-several-servers/group-moderated allow-list of "trustworthy users from lax instances" or something

@darius So personally I tend to look at my project websites as something my *social media profiles point to*, rather than something that *drives traffic to my social media profile*. I have *never* linked my social media from my professional websites, because my websites are my professional face and my social media are where I talk about dicks and tits and such. I include my project websites on my resume and I don't want an employer seeing my (personal) social media.

@darius You know what would actually be sort of useful to me personally is something that you point at a thread with many replies and it puts it into a tree structure. Mastodon dot web if you have a thread with replies and replies to replies everything's just in a jumbled mess at the end lol
