@dansup Please don't do this. Check out FairEmail or NetGuard on FDroid. Both are FOSS. They initially come with limited functionality but all features can be unlocked after a one-time in-app payment. For pixelfed this could for example unlock filters, DMs, Stories,...
No need to maintain 4 apps (2 android, 2 ios) which makes development more complicated and users steadily asking about the difference

@dansup I'd love to see someone else taking care of the android app in the meantime. This would speed up development processes and will let you stay focused on iOS and server development. What about a patreon site to try to get a stable income to have you and another one work on the apps fulltime?

@dansup I wonder if this feature is really neccessary to label the app as 'stable' (which should be top priority in my eyes). It might be better to focus on feature parity between web and app as well as android/ios app first, hence implementing stories, compact media preview,... :-)
