@gargron
Your hard work is very much appreciated. Maybe, though, upgrading the infrastructure behind mastodon.social is counter-productive. It just leads to the next wave of new arrivals assuming that this is "the" instance to register at, ad infinitum. Maybe limiting the account count on your instance would give you peace of mind, and ultimately distribute accounts more evenly among instances.

@gargron Thank you for the transparency. I still believe giant instances should not exist, and that you should shrink yours. "Bigger than ever" does not address the issues.

@european_alternatives @onatcer
Thank you, this is very useful because it saves me several manual steps, and I can recommend it to less tech-savvy people.

In my country (Germany), #DumpsterDiving ("#Containern") is still a criminal offense. Forcing humans to dig through #garbage cans to have something to eat, and then criminalizing them when they do is pure evil.
It seems not all of your member countries are "more committed than ever to reducing food waste". How about publicly addressing this?

@signalapp Wow. Magic. BTW, can it make phone numbers go away? So we could use, let's say, user names instead?

@dansup "unless breaking the law" is not a good idea, since there is no unique "law" but a whole zoo of jurisdictions, including laws made by dictators and authoritarian regimes that I would not want to see in control of what I get to see.
I suggest that rules for exclusions be published, so you know what to expect from a curated site. Also, document under which jurisdiction *you* are under.
Apart from that, the person maintaining the site gets to decide. If you disagree, set up your own site.
