@darius @nev I'll definitely consider this if @mastohost offers it.

@dansup Personally, I don't care about things being for-profit. Hell, I'm a for-profit enterprise!
I do think that overwhelming scale and the potential for monopolies matter, and I hope that doesn't happen (I don't think it will, Tumblr's too weird).
The Fediverse is currently too small. Even small-time creators are going to find it hard to find an audience big enough to sustain them. Gaining access to Tumblr's users is really quick win in this regard.

@dansup But why would that happen? The size of an instance doesn't affect the load they put on other servers, the number of interactions does. Mastodon.social (>200k) puts no more load on my server than Mastodon.art (<10k), for example. Tumblr would be no different in that regard, surely?
Maybe I'm missing something?

@dansup Are there any other activities that are just broadcast like that? Feels like a bit of a design flaw to me, that should be solved anyway,

@Gargron I would like this to be configurable, as I use quoting mainly to provide context to boosting someone's work. Off by default, or only allow quote-boosts from people you follow? Some sort of compromise like that would be nice.
