Just paired with Claude to make this throwaway tool to visualise project estimates over time. Worked extremely well!
It still required a bit of hand-editing the javascript but 99% of this just worked. Also, software estimates can be useful!

@searls has this ever happened? I’ve always lamented that the marketing people win (Signup button) over the UX people (Login button) even when the number logging in each month vastly outweigh those signing up. And there’s always more Signup buttons around the page… just let us have the one prominent login button

#brightonruby is simultaneously the perfect length with so much packed into a day, and over far too soon.
Really glad to be here again for the chats, food, swimming, and meeting new/old friends. Especially delighted to have met @sarahmei!
Thanks again @andycroll for bringing the community together

@searls reducing if statements is largely how I describe my job as CTO because it’s the clearest way to communicate the complexity, risk, and maintenance burden of seemingly-trivial feature requests

@nateberkopec “Your app performed 7% slower in the past 7 days”

“Your app performed 10% faster in the past 7 days 👍”
Are just the nonsense emails I get from Scout which I know are 100% attributable to the changing inputs because we haven’t materially changed the machine. Drives me insane

@searls yeah, not sure I’ve seen an API key integration. We’ve done it through Connect for as long as I can remember and I believe this is the strongly preferred approach by Stripe. In fact, I think they would prefer if we used Express accounts which we retain total control over

@searls yeah, #2 sounds like a non-starter. We use Stripe Connect and when you cancel your account we stop the subscriptions to the Podia content. You can reinstate these via the API (we've done this) but it's firmly in the “theoretically possible but not easy” category.
I'm no product expert but our support team has a lot of experience supporting slightly off-the-beaten-track use cases.

@searls 👋 https://www.podia.com — we use your Stripe account so all your customer’s payment information is stored there.
I can't say it would be trivial to migrate away and keep payments, or import them elsewhere, but it would be theoretically possible with the Stripe API. Easier than most platforms which act as a middleman though
