@darius @esdin @codename_B would that be close enough to a post import, to have the new account repost everything (unlisted) from the old one before the old one moves? Or am I missing a trick?

@darius @esdin @codename_B and sounds like there's no good hook for the new account to quiet-boost the old account's posts before the force-follow?

(I'm spitballing here, obvs)

@darius @esdin @codename_B in terms of the account migration process, do people often have any followers at the new account before migrating from the old?

@darius Chicken recipe is themediterraneandish.com/cilan and the pilaf is just...I dunno, a rice pilaf with some onions, cumin seeds, and saffron

(the salad is bagged I'm sorry)

@darius I get that, which is why I don't tend to bring it up in debates. But in the spirit of @hipsterelectron's original point, I do feel like there needs to be some counterargument made -- I just don't know how to make "if you think it helps you, you're probably lying to yourself, or you don't understand how you've undermined yourself" into a more...palatable argument

@darius @hipsterelectron I have a problem that's almost the inverse: when someone makes claims about how it "helps" them in their work, I automatically think somewhat less of them, consider them at least a bit irresponsible, and question whether they ever really understood their own work in the first place. I haven't figured out how to handle it rhetorically, so I don't mention it much, but it makes me cringe whenever it comes up.
