@darius dammit, I figured so
So I suppose I could do a hack-around, like so:
1) take a screenshot of the video
2) put that into the post I'm doing
3) put alt-text onto that screenshot, and ...
4) ... my image will override/replace the video-image that Mastodon would ordinarily pull from YouTube
Am I correct in assuming 4)?

@darius Interesting! I like this sort of taxonomic thinking
For Notes, I'm a fan of original RTing -- i.e. cut and paste the text, say "RT", compress if needed
A useful level of friction

Behold the work of Darya Kawa Mirza, a self-taught Kurdish photographer who produces astonishingly detailed pictures of the moon ...
... by zooming in close on individual tiny craters, taking over 80,000 shots of those, then compositing them together into individual, incredibly detailed landscapes

"Prairie strips" ...
... are narrow little parts of big farms that the farmers allow to return to nature ...
... with wild native plants growing there, and no fertilizer or pesticides
Turns out these little strips of rewilding have a powerful and postive impact on the health of the surrounding soil

Mastodon hive-mind!
I require your assistance
I'm wondering -- what was the first American song written about the problems of becoming famous as a singer/performer? Of the hassles of fame, of life on the road, etc?
When did this become a subject matter of songwriters and performers?
Please boost, the more brains on this one the better
