@EU_Commission that cookie banner does not work well, as the modern sites designer, I recommend you making decline a link-like instead of a button, it should be grey and barely visible, accept should be of inviting green colour on the green. For law reasons there needs to be a preferences link too, make it grey and unnoticeable too, and if user clicks it, make sure to put save link at the bottom while having our lovely green Accept all visible at all times. Here you go, hope this is helpful. /hj

@dansup maybe they can split users into a bunch of basket servers and make it opt-in for their blogs to federate? E.g. @brawuru@ibex.tumblr.com

@dansup can't help but notice how bad the experience of migrating on fediverse is, with these red walls of text and back-linking...

@dansup node.js but with a bunch of random segfaults, all for the so-called ‘speed’👍
just overhyped alpha software that tries to be an alternative to node.js while not bringing a lot new to the table

@dansup sorry for being rude but screw DHH with his deranged takes. man keeps living in times when he created rails and tries to force that on others
if you don't like typescript, that's fine, I get it, don't use it in your apps if you don't want to. but what he did is totally remove any typings from the LIBRARY that others use, without any alternative
the right way to do it is how @rich_harris did it at svelte where they now use JSDocs and publish declarations, which works great for everyone

@dansup sounds weird to talk about open source deeds given that they've received a billion euros fine in EU due to privacy violations (transferring data of EU users to US) just recently

And this post is a beautiful example why Mastodon needs at least some markdown support. These fancy letters are just boxes on my Android device.

@dansup I understand, but it still not good, maybe even worse. Dark modes are just inaccessible for some people and in some conditions.
If you have to force a mode, forcing light mode is usually a better choice because most of the web is light mode and browsers / extensions are well equipped to convert light mode sites into dark mode.
Ideally, of course, you wouldn't force any specific mode and respect user preference, but it may be hard to maintain two modes at the same time.
