@Gargron Wow, you have thought this through - great! You also articulated well some of the reasons quote-posts get on my nerves. All I could think of was, the quoter took over, commandeered the situation. And they made it all about themselves.

@Gargron Awesome. Letting people filter is good. So are explanatory notes. Non-tech people can understand servers and decentralization enough to sign up and use mastodon.(I saw comments on another platform suggesting otherwise.) They just need the type of things you described here.
