My sister told me a nice story yesterday. In her K-8 school, they use a mentor system. 8th graders mentor kindergarteners. At recess, she watched a tough guy, knucklehead kid go up to his little mentee, who was crying and afraid to play with anyone. They chatted for 5 minutes, hugged and then the kindergartener got up and went to play with a group of kids.
