@Gargron I don’t care about the difference between toot, post, share, or publish, but the misuse of the term “boost” bothers me. It doesn’t increase(boost) the weight of that post in decisions about what to show, it adds that post to the timeline of your own posts - it should be called retoot, repost, reblog, or similar

@dansup looking at your profile I already see verification checkmarks for your pixelfed, GitHub, and website links. Adding a way to vary that checkmark to indicate paid support, or just to customize and give hosts the option to charge a fee for customization, could be a nice way for supporters to make that public that would be hard to fake

@drmaddkap for a crude approximation…
Republicans want to enslave anyone who isn’t a rich white man, and occasionally murder them for fun (especially the ones who are trans)
Democrats want to keep everyone who isn’t rich too poor to change things, and don’t mind if many suffer in poverty
… so they’re both bad, but they’re not the same

@drmaddkap I’d guess it’s partly because bigger touchscreens are so much more expensive than CPUs that it doesn’t make much sense to sell screens that don’t have CPUs - especially when you need a CPU to decide the image anyway. (Same reason all TVs are now “smart”.) Making it a standard feature to use anything with a screen as a UI device (also like TVs) would be great, but capitalism abhors a standard
… could CarPlay/AndroidAuto be (ab)used for this?
