@darius @tripofmice I looked but didn't see - is there a way to import from Goodreads (or another book reading/library tracking tool into Bookwyrm? I have a decade of longer of tracking my library in Goodreads which is hard to give up as it is very useful (I'm also more into Goodreads for my own tracking than for seeing other's reviews though I do like seeing them when from friends)

@darius @tripofmice thanks. I’ll take a look. I suspect my db might be challenging but I’ll see how it works (I have a fair number of obscure books amongst my shelves). I’m also curious if the import retains ratings/reviews/read times (including multiple reads) of the books when imported. But that will in part be a factor of what data Goodreads exports as well as the import process.

Has anyone built the version of Meetup? (Opt in to groups that then plan localized events - perhaps inclusive of online ones?) it’s tricky as it takes some good practices to avoid spam, scams and other bad behavior and actors. But reoccurring (as well as one off but low barriers to entry to holding) events is really good for community building (regardless of the topics)

@dansup @pixelfed book recommendation for you “How to write one song” by Jeff Tweedy. It’s really great one of the best books I’ve read in years for inspiration in creative endeavors

@darius I wonder if the role of "fediverse admin" will evolve into a split - separating the technical aspects (setting up the service/managing scale/updates/security/cost) and the social/community aspects (moderation, writing rules, inviting users to join/approving if that's required/helping new users etc)

Seems like the technical aspects could (eventually) be outsourced/paid for via specialized services, but the other part requires a deep tie to the community you serve?
