So issue encountered. The iOS Beta app failed a number of times trying to upload 9 photos in one post (10 is max). I noted in subsequent attempts after I’d lost all the bespoke alt text I’d written 1st time. When adding a post, the alt text is in a separate window after uploading photo. I found the edit post option has a much better view of photo and alt text on same page, great for multiple photos. I think the edit post view should be the std view when posting new photos. Far easier!

@dansup @pixelfed I had the bug this morning after update overnight. Multiple crashes when trying to open. Closed off in App Switcher and tried to open again, same result. Switched off iPhone and app back to working as before. It posted some pics then crashed as it refreshed timeline. Web showed the uploaded pics were received properly. Bug hunting is a pain. Good luck and as always thank you for all your efforts!

@dansup Something you need to sort now before users get used to it being free & noting other comments definitely not something to copy straight from Space Karen. Not a fan of bluechecks! Other options:

1) Notional fee for annual app big update or initial purchase for iOS/Android app
2) Donation message after every 25,50 or 100 photo uploads
3) Tier usage on .social, large collection users to pay for using service

Also your future plans, is this a hobby or do you want it to be main job/income?

@dansup Hi I see no reason for you to apologise to anyone. You created Pixelfed and have run Pixelfed.social very well from my perspective. It’s no doubt a controversial topic and people on both sides of the debate feel strongly in their position. Can’t argue against democracy (mostly!) but I’m content with your decisions/explanations so far. If after a discussion those who dislike/cannot accept the decision of the community can choose to move to another instance. The beauty of the Fediverse!

@dansup Watching you develop this out has been very educational as someone new to the Fediverse via Mastodon so thank you. Can’t wait to get my own instance up and running when its optimal for NAS/Docker. PixelFed more than other parts of the Fediverse suits a self host. And congrats on the Wired article!

@dansup Hi. New to the Fediverse via Mastodon. For me PixelFed has a different value proposition than Mastodon. Looking for an Insta alternative I started with the PixelFed Beta app and my instance I joined to test it out went and disppearred on me. No warning whatsoever. As this is my photo library, I’m now far more inclined to self host PixelFed than I am Mastodon to retain control of my pictures/data. This is one area PixelFed itself needs to better supportive of compared to Mastodon.

@EU_Commission Hi. This is incorrect. Ireland wasn’t in conflict with Northern Ireland. I think you need to revisit this wording and inform yourself of the primary sources of violence in Northern Ireland and wider afield.
