@Gargron @zeitschlag Also, wouldn't it be an idea to start a Mastodon.news or Mastodon.press instance for journalists? And maybe Mastodon.write for writers? Journalists might not want to run their own instances, but rather join an instance where they can post and read news and discuss what's going with each other? (what do you think @randimayemsinger and @mollyjongfast)

@Gargron @zeitschlag That's so great! 🌟 🌟🌟 I have a layout wish for the future of the app (if possible). I would like to see an option to put pictures at the top, then put text and # underneath the picture. I like very much that we are able to show long pictures at Mastodon btw, it's great for artists. Also, the space between pictures and the space on the sides of the screen looks nicer on the web interface than on the app imo (just some details I have been thinking about). 💗

Thank you for your reply! Ok, yes I saw the search icon now when I used Mastodon on my laptop. On my iPhone I can't see any search function at all.

But then I tried the Mastodon app again and it seems to be much better now + in the app I can see the search function. :-)

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but why would people necessarily risk being harassed if we could search for them?

Also, is there a function to change your username in Mastodon?

@Gargron Wouldn't it be an idea to close Mastodon.social for a little while for new users, then weed out the accounts that are demanding changes but are not patreons, and those who break server rules. Then, what about partnering with a company or The European Commission? For a long term solution? Suppose this influx continues, and all the companies and trolls from Twitter also sign up to here. You might be too tired to think of a solution now, but trust me, do it before you crash.
