@feditips We've got a PeerTube instance... It currently has up to 25 registrations open on it. https://video.jgimedatse.com/ currently the only content is mine, or reposts of other people (usually editing it, and within stated license, though some has been "fair use", (ie. it can't entirely be said to be legal, but that's just because the law really isn't clear, other than being clearly unclear)).

@feditips I know "repporting on Reddit" is a lost cause, but it would be worth at least trying to do something about that... Honestly, this is terrible...

@feditips This sounds like what I was able to do when I was running my own instance (well I think I had some provider handling the hosting, because I couldn't be arsed), some stuff might be subtlely different, but it's pretty close. That was a good while ago...

@Gargron Yeah, I'm very similarly impressed that people use Instagram. UX is terrible, unless you are using "the app". And I'm a "desktop web" person. But so many... Popular things are designed for people who are clearly not me...

@feditips The ads I have seen, look like they probably are being allowed to be posted, or failing to moderate, rather than actually being part of how the instance runs things. And yes, overall the fediverse is pretty anti-cryptocurrency, though I can't say "blockchain" which while it's usually cryptocurrency and related uses, doesn't actually have to be.

@feditips @pfefferle Not a fan of WordPress, but I like... This idea. WordPress is good for people who are mostly just "plug and play" type creators. It tends to not break in complicated ways most of the time, and unless I'm willing to teach someone how to do something close to writing HTML, I'm far better off giving them something like WordPress.

@FediFollows @trey It looks like it sends a good amount of detail about your instance, but it's been a long time since I have looked at WordPress code. But you *should* be able to modify the code if otherwise looks good.

@FediFollows @trey Yeah, I went looking to see what the license was. Because I felt that if the license was clearly allowing the changing of the code, then it would make a load of sense to just go and follow that.

@dansup At the time I signed up, it seemed like there wasn't really any option... That honestly was quite a while ago. So, that could be a very different situation.

@feditips That is a bit of a by instance thing. I have seen ads, cryptocurrency on PeerTube relatively frequently. I'm not sure if the ads on PeerTube are actually paying bills of the instances or not, I suspect not. But the Cryptocurrency is intentional. And... some instances are OK with federating with that content, others are not.

@dansup Oh, that's not much ... Like about 16 hours of HD video... I think.

@feditips Oh, does that mean I'm scheduled for another update? Yep, it seems that I am. I just managed to get 4.2 running. I'm glad to see the updates, but I really like to step back and decide when I want to do them. Because "going smoothly" seems to be the exception rather than the rule. And sometimes... It's so bad as to be, "OK just start from scratch." Though I can't confirm I have ever experienced that with PeerTube.
