Grumpy Mark's latest activity

T'was the month before Valentine's Day, when all through the house, Grumpy Mark was muttering "Christmas has only just finished and now they're flooding me with another 3 to 4 weeks of non-stop capitalism, all in the name of love. Please stop."馃檮

So I tried another of those "pictures found in random lines" things I've been experimenting with....

A very rough and ready digital oil painting.

Tried the palette knife tool rather than the brush.

55 minutes work (I set myself an hour, and actually finished early馃槼).

Not sure about it TBH, but at least it looks different to my usual stuff.

A new digital oil painting.

The dry-stone wall/buildings are prevalent on the moorland about 20 miles north of where I live.

The purplish clouds are also fairly typical.

Another old photograph I took, this time of a sculpture on a beach...

I'm having one of "those" days...

Everything is taking longer than usual to do. I'm seemingly incapable of doing things properly and keep having to go back to redo them. Cupboards aren't shutting properly. I set the washing machine off on the wrong program. Everything appears to want to be dropped on the floor. Coffee wants to be spilled, repeatedly. Autocarrot keeps incorrectly correcting what I type. I had two hangnails.

On the bright side, other than all that I'm fine.

Someone has done a lot of work trying to arrange the clouds today.

This is an early digital oil painting where I wanted to see if I could paint water (and also general wetness).

This is before I started using the Bob Ross 'Dab It With The End Of A Large Brush' Technique, so I would probably do the sky and background hills slightly differently if I did this painting again today.

Once upon a time, about 5 years ago, and about 6 months after I started drawing again (after a 35 year break), I became slightly obsessed with small hand-drawn squares.

This is one example... the top of Blackpool Tower, Blackpool England.

(For those unaware, Blackpool is a "traditional British seaside resort" in the north west of England. Shortly after the Eiffel Tower was built, Blackpool decided it wanted one too).

Music helps me cope. Header is a collage of my own art and album cover art from bands I like, overlaying a photograph of the sun behind some thin, tall trees. Another example of me absent-mindedly playing with the ArtRage digital art app...

The colouring is vaguely reminiscent of an OTT Paisley pattern shirt I used to own.
