Thanks Dan. I think opt-in is a good way to go with meta for pixelfed in particular. Many users are on pixelfed because they made a conscious choice to not be on Instagram.

This doesn’t mean every company that wants to get on the fedi would need to be opt-in…meta seems like a special case. Even meta admits there is a “trust deficit”, and they are doing opt-in as well, so I think this is a good call.

Yeah, “block” should be both ways. If it is only stopping you from seeing stuff, I think it should be called “mute”, which would fit with standard terms and people’s expectations.

@dansup I think the latest version looks good, and it is clear.

I do have a tweak for the final part to clarify account migration a little. If uptake of account migration support is widespread, it would be clearer to omit the “if….” clause in parentheses below.

@feditips secondary issue: I think “pick my own server” is really poor wording because it sounds like you need your own server that you host.

“Pick another server” would be better
