It's certainly refreshingly healthy to not have peer-reviewed research papers denied by a "troll" on social media. Though to be fair, in the context of air pollution - the facts are usually ignored.

The individual that lies in the "anti-reality" movements has less of a social effect than the big lies spread by the anti-clean air fossil fuel lobbyists. They're not specifically anti-clean air or even anti-climate change. They're anti-not making money.

@Gargron

to all the "busy bees" that are busy working behind the scenes and contributing to the digital system.

Thanks for the sweet - open-source software and administration.

always left a bitter "taste" for me. Maybe that was due to some of the twits?

You've struck a chord that is the definite point in this (science) context. Its OK to be incorrect and not know it - its not OK to be scientifically dishonest.

Maybe the "US culture warriors" are both scientifically insincere and politically motivated. For example, some individuals & organisations are about winning social status (money \ popularity, etc) not about sincerity or another evidence based epistemology.

@VictorVenema

Is there a "free market" in medical degrees? (rhetorical).

There is a system that means science degrees are just that - degrees that are generally founded on scientific literature.

Compared to, for example, learning science subjects at school - science degrees are more about learning how to think like a scientist. And of course, work like a scientist - research.

Arguably, they should also teach that (more) at schools.

What is ? It's not the subjects!
