@Mastodon I know it's not necessarily something to celebrate on merch, but I'd love something with the "mastodon fail" elephant. He's so cute.

@vivienhessel When some states are actively trying to legislate that minority out of existence, some of us find that newsworthy. Glad it doesn't affect you though. Enjoy your privilege.

Top headline in the Washington Post today, a story about trans people that features actual trans voices instead of fear-mongering and bigoted terfs. The NY Times has a choice in how to report on trans issues and they always choose wrong. (gift article) wapo.st/42xm1e4

has been suspended by Twitter without warning or explanation. Apparently it violated ‘Twitter rules and policies’, but that is all they told us.

We contacted Twitter support about the situation, but we are not particularly optimistic.

We always knew this could happen; it happened to other services in the past, so we are neither particularly surprised nor sad about it.

In the mean time, Fedifinder still works: fedifinder.social

Use it while you still can!

So it’s time to give another try - if you haven’t yet or gave up.

It seems like the usability issues are being solved due to an ever more innovative and competitive ecosystem of apps.

Mammoth is one of the best apps right now: apps.apple.com/de/app/mammoth-

The New York Times ran six front page stories in a year claiming trans kids were transitioning too fast and regretting it but failed to come up with statistical or even anecdotal evidence backing it. One story had an anecdote about a person who took 7 years to transition and got all of their medical treatment as an adult as the primary example of kids transitioning too fast and regretting it. That's neither a kid or transitioning fast. And it's a setup for banning transition for more than kids.

Guilty verdicts are coming in now in the Oath Keepers trial (the militia leaders that helped plan and carry out the attack on the capitol.)

Deterrence (a theory of punishment) doesn't usually work (I did the research for a published book; the DOJ studies concur.)

Incapacitation can work, but temporarily (sentences are limited, inmates get hardened, etc.)

Luck in timing: Just as Trump needs another insurrection, the leaders of the last one are in court.

And they know he didn't help them.

RT @AndyRichter
It still kills me that these rubes center that failed real estate clown from the '80s and '90s in their grandiose nationalist paranoid fantasy. It's like they wanted a George Washington and they chose Ted Knight's nephew Spaulding from Caddyshack to play him twitter.com/RonFilipkowski/sta
